About Juan C. Congote, Esq.
Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Attorney Juan C. Congote has a personal connection with the practice of Immigration Law. After watching his family and friends struggle with the confusing U.S.immigration law system,he decided to pursue his law degree with the objective of helping the immigrant community in the United States.
With more than 10 years of experience as an attorney and more than 5 years in the immigration field, Attorney Congote has successfully represented hundreds of families in complex immigration matters. He has argued countless cases before the Immigration Court in removal and custody determination proceedings. Additionally, Attorney Congote has successfully assisted in bringing civil actions against the Department of Homeland Security in Federal Court to redress abuses of discretion and violations of immigrants’ procedural rights during the adjudication of petitions. Attorney Congote has also successfully represented wrongfully convicted immigrants in state courts in actions to vacate their convictions.
Attorney Congote has also worked in sophisticated immigration matters including employment-based immigrant and non-immigrant visas, waivers of inadmissibility, humanitarian visas including U and T visas, and derived citizenship matters. Attorney Congote’s deep knowledge of immigration law has allowed him to serve as an associate attorney and later as Head of the Immigration Department at renowned firms in the Greater Boston area.
Attorney Congote obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University in 2012, where he was also a member of the Law School’s Immigration Clinic. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. He is fluent in Spanish, English. He is a member in good standing of the Massachusetts and New York Bars, as well as of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts bar. He is also an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association, AILA.
